Tamil Engineers Foundation made a donation of Rs 245,430.00 to provide school books and stationary to the needy and affected school children in the remote area of Trincomalee District.

This project was fully funded from the part of money raised at the Laughing O Laughing fundraising program staged at Brisbane in Nov 2015 by TEF Qld Chapter.

This project proposal was developed on a request from parents, teachers and principals of few schools located at Mutur area. These schools were located in isolated areas where facilities are very limited. During the war time these villages were isolated from other normal villages. The families of these villages are illiterate, their daily income come from firewood, honey extraction, daily labor and some involve fishing. Due to this situation these villagers do not show much interest in education and thus create undeveloped situation in their areas.

Approximately 500 children were selected from 9 different schools from Trincomalee area based on their family situation to receive school books & stationaries. This project was implemented by TDDA (Trincomalee District Development Association) of Trincomalee.

The educational Zonal Director of Muthur, Parents of students and members of TDDA also attended the function.

The details of this project was published in the local media in Sri Lanka, appreciating TEF efforts, please refer attached an article in the Virakesari News Paper.
