We are glad to inform that we had our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday 6th Sept at Sydney and many members from interstate / overseas participated via Zoom.Many of you are aware that due to the current COVID19 Pandemic in Australia & Globally, we ended up cancelling our annual fundraising events in Sydney, Melbourne and in other major cities in 2020. However, it’s great to note that we have managed to raise $85,000 via email circulation and donated $97,000 to various humanitarian initiatives from 1st Jan 2020 to end of Aug 2020, which is a remarkable outcome.The funds collected for humanitarian projects for the last many years are illustrated in the following chart. In total we have donated $820,000 (i.e approx. LKR. 100 Million) to various humanitarian projects and very shortly we will be reaching the $1 Million target, which will be a great achievement.Please click the link below to view the Annual Report / Magazine 2020. Engineers Charity Fund - Empowering Young Professionals in Humanitarian Work – Formation of "Youth Charity Network”

“Youth Charity Network” has been voted unanimously selected & agreed at the meeting as the name for the organizationThe young graduates had a brainstorming session at the meeting and agreed to work out a short term proposal to “help the needy elderly people in Sydney, by providing short term emergency supplies to overcome the current COVID-19 epidemic, and in the long term help improve technology literacy and connectedness”. This is a good initiative which will help the most vulnerable group in our society at this critical period and will be appreciated by many in the general community.Read more...

Bushfire Crises Donation of $15000 to NSW RFS & Other Fire Authorities from various states

Over the past couple of months, we have been witnessing the unprecedented catastrophic bushfires affecting significant parts of NSW, Victoria, ACT and SA.It is with regret that we note many firefighters have lost their lives and have been injured during their great community service. Many residents of the affected communities have lost their homes and belongings. Our sincere tributes, thoughts and prayers go to the affected families and friends during this difficult time.We are glad that the recent rain has eased the situation & brought normalcy to some parts of the affected area.We, Engineers Charity Fund (Tamil Engineers Foundation) recognized our moral responsibility to act and help our fellow Australians during this challenging time. Thaipongal Bajan and Lunch at Sydney Murugan Temple

We are glad that many of you participated in the Thai Pongal Day activities at Sydney Murugan Temple on Wednesday 15th Jan 2020. The activities i.e. Bajan, lunch and evening prasatham progressed very well and were well coordinated. The lunch (Rice, 5 Vegetable Curries, Pappadam & Payasam) was served to approximately 1300 devotees and the evening prasatham (Kadalai & Pulichatham) also was served to more than 1000 devotees. It was indeed a great accomplishment.On Behalf of Tamil Engineers Foundation, I thank and pass on our sincere gratitude to all of you for your financial contributions and participation in this event to make it a a successful and memorable one.We thank TEF Committee Members, volunteers, well-wishers and their family and friends for their hard work and dedication which enabled us to accomplish this task successfully. Workshop – Empower Young Professionals in Humanitarian Work

 am glad to inform that the "Workshop – Empower Young Professionals in Humanitarian Work” which was held on Sunday 17 Nov 2019 at Mantra Hotel, Parramatta was a great success with about 45 attendees, including 28 young professionals/undergraduates.A new “Young Professionals Group” has been inaugurated with the enthusiastic & motivated youngsters. About 28 members joined in this group. Most of them are from various professions / undergraduates i.e. Engineers / Doctors/ IT Professionals / PhD students etc. The brainstorming exercise was performed in great length and with good participation. An evening with Samarpan FamiliesTEF in Sydney organized a get together for the families & children of “Samarpan” on Sunday 13 Oct 2019.This event touched the hearts and minds of everyone. We sincerely thank our committee members for organizing this event in order to provide entertainment, companionship & friendship to “Samarpan” children who have been deprived of normal life. We sincerely thank the youngsters who attended this event to provide great entertainment to everyone.The outdoor games & the indoor activities were excellent. Workshop to empower Young Professionals in Humanitarian ActivitiesECF (TEF) NSW Chapter is organizing a workshop to empower Young Professionals in Humanitarian ActivitiesDate / Time: Sunday 17 Nov 2019 between 9.30 am and 2.30pmVenue: Hotel Mantra Parramatta (Corner of Parkes Street & Valentine Avenue)Dress code: Smart professionalThe cost per head is $25. which includes Buffet lunch, tea, coffee, snacks, etc.Rotary Club (Kellyville) will also be giving a talk to the Young Professionals to explain the opportunities available with the Rotary Club to implement humanitarian projects in Australia/ Sri Lanka/Overseas countries.TEF will consider supporting the Young Professionals Forum for three years with nominal funding (3 projects of $3500 each i.e. in Aust / SL / Overseas – Max $10,000/ year). Drought Relief to farmers of Baradine-NSW

Tamil Engineers Foundation (TEF) donated $2000 to the “Country Women's Association of NSW” to help the farmers at “Baradine” who have been affected badly by the recent drought.The farming town of “Baradine” is about 550 km from Sydney towards Moree. Revolving Loans Project to provide 12 Tube Wells to woman headed families in Siruppiddy, Kopay

Tamil Engineers Foundation made a donation of Rs 420,000 (Approx. $3500) to CCYE (Centre for Child and Youth Empowerment) of Jaffna through Sivan Arul Illam in March 2016 to provide “interest-free loans” to 12 women headed families (Rs35,000 each) to build Tube Wells for domestic use, home gardening etc. The loan amounts were fully recovered in the last 18 months. The recovered funds are now used again to provide Interest-free Revolving Loans (Rs35,000) to another 12 new beneficiaries (women headed families) to build Tube Wells in their own land.Read more...

Tamil Engineers Foundation made a donation of Rs 368,000 (Approx. $3000) to CCYE (Centre for Child and Youth Empowerment) of Jaffna through Sivan Arul Illam (Dr. Jayamohan) in April 2018 to provide interest free loans to 25 women headed families to provide them new bicycles for their children to make their travel to school, tuition centers etc easily, This project was jointly funded by TEF & AMAF from the funds raised at the Brisbane Fundraising Event which was held in 2017.
