Tamil Engineers Foundation made a donation of Rs360, 000 (Approx. $3250) to 12 women headed families (Rs. 30,000 per family as interest-free loans) to establish Livelihood income. Most of these families undertake small scale vegetable & farming activities in Neerveli, Jaffna area.This loan will help them in enhancing their farming activities to improve their family income as they have lost their breadwinner during the war. Tamil Engineers Foundation donated Rs 142,200.00 ($1150.00) to Eng Faculty to provide 25 Drawing Instrument Boxes to 1st year needy students to assist them in their Uni education. These drawing Instrument Boxes will be returned to the Faculty once the 1st year students complete their studies and are given to another 25 students on a rotational basis. Tamil Engineers Foundation provided Rs400,000 ($3400.00) as a Revolving Loan (no interest with a 5 year recovery period) to RDS at Thennamaravadi to fund the machinery + 3 Phase Electricity connection cost for the proposed Rice Mill. The loan will be recovered by RDS in 5 years and used for future Revolving Loan Projects in that area. Amount of Rs175,000 (Approx. $1500) was provided by AATI to fund the cost of the building. The funding request letter, list of signatures from the local farmers, Rice Mill Plan and Quote for the machinery cost are also attached (The estimated cost of 3 phase electricity connection is Rs75,000).Read more...

Tamil Engineers Foundation provided Rs324,000.00 ($2700.00) to Hindu Council of Sri Lanka to implement Revolving Loans (Rs30000 per family) to 10 deserving families in Mannar area. These loans were provided to war widows so that they could get involved in business, home gardening, sewing, dairy farming or any other activities, that will generate an income for their living.
