Financial Assistance to provide additional coaching classes to students from Hari Illam Orphanage Batticaloa

Engineers Charity Fund (ECF) made a donation of $2500 (Approx. Rs.379,200) to Hari Illam Orphanage from Batticaloa for providing additional coaching classes in Maths, Science & English for students from Grades 6 to 11.Due to COVID19 pandemic the orphanage is facing limited financial support from their regular donors. We are glad that ECF was able to make this donation to Hari Illam at this difficult time with the kind support of our donors.There are about 56 children at this orphanage and 13 of them are continuing their tertiary education at various Universities (including two students at Faculty of Engineering). ECF is supporting the children at Hari Illam for the last many years.We are glad to note that we have received overwhelming support for this project. Some of the students performed well and may get the opportunity to follow the tertiary education.The committee thank and pass on our gratitude to all the donors for their generous & kind hearted contributions. Donation to Karainagar Elders Day Care Centre

Engineers Charity Fund (ECF) recently donated a sum of $1500 (Rs. 225,000) to provide rice, dhal & milk powder to an Elders Day Care Centre at Karainagar.ECF has been supporting the Elders Day Care Centre at Karainagar for the last 4 years (2017 to 2021) by providing funds to supply rice and dhal monthly to feed the elderly people in that area. This Day Care Centre provides home cooked meals to approximately 30 elderly and disable people from the local area daily for many years.The funding made by ECF previously in 2019 has ended recently and now additional funding provided to extend this service for another 12 months period.The committee thanks & pass on our gratitude to the above donors for their generous contributions towards this worthy cause. We are glad that we have received overwhelming support from our members for this great cause. Engineers Charity Fund (ECF) donated a sum of AUD1000 to Rotary Club of Colombo South recently towards organizing the sports meet at Vanni to mark the “International Day of Persons of Disability”Due to the COVID pandemic the sports meet didn’t take place so these funds were utilized by the Rotary Club to distribute stationaries worth of Rs.500,000 to the children who come from families where the sole breadwinner is affected by spinal cord injury at Uyirilai Health Centre at Mankulam.Rtn K. Tamil Engineers Foundation donated a sum of $2500 (Approx. Rs 324,300) to Hari Illam Orphanage Batticaloa to fund for additional coaching classes in Maths, Science & English for grades 6 to 11 students. Assistance to build a new elevated Water Tank for Swami Vipulanada Children's Home, Thiruppalugamam, Batticaloa

Tamil Engineers Foundation donated a sum of Rs295,245 (Approx. $2435) to construct a new elevated water tank, pump, pipework etc. at the “Swami Vipulananda Children Home at Batticaloa”.There are 43 children being sheltered at this Orphanage. Most of them are from the families who have been affected by the recent ethnic conflict, natural disaster, family breakdown and sought refuge in the Orphanage for food and shelter. The funding request was to replace the corroded Iron water tank stand with concrete stand, relevant plumbing works and buying a new water pump as the current condition of the assets passed its lifetime.The committee thanks & pass on our gratitude to the above donors for their generous contributions to this worthy project.This project was implemented by “LIFT – Local Initiatives for Tomorrow” a Batticaloa based NGO. Children from Hari Illam Orphanage has excelled in the recent Ordinary Level examinationsTEF has been supporting Hari Illam Orphanage @ Batticaloa for the last few years in various ways (Educational assistance, clothing etc)Children at this Orphanage have done well in the recent OL exams, they have obtained Special Medals in excellence in studies. Five out of eleven got special medal awards for excellence in studies. One student received “9 A” at the last GCE OL exam. Two of them got University Admission. Many of these children lost one or both of their parents during the troubles and sought refuge at the Hari Illam Orphanage for food and shelter.Read more...

Tamil Engineers Foundation donated Rs.305,000 (Approx. $ 2500) to “UYIRLAI” (Spinal Cord Injury Association Mullaitivu) to provide 10 beds & 10 Water Filters to the needy patients in Vanni area. The event to hand over the beds & water filters to the patients was held on 28th Sept.The committee thanks and conveys our sincere gratitude to all the donors who made donations towards this worthy cause. We also thank TEF Victorian Chapter for their significant contribution ($1200) for this project. Tamil Engineers Foundation made a donation of Rs100,000 to “UYIRILAI” (http://uyirilai.org), an organisation formed to assist people with spinal cord injury, to provide 10 wheelchairs to people with spinal cord injury in Vanni area. These wheelchairs were purchased through Rev. Fr. S.
