Scholarships to Batticaloa University Students

TEF recently awarded scholarships to 14 undergraduates from Batticaloa University. These students have been selected based on their family financial situation and the recipients were recommended by the “Rotary Club of Batticaloa”.Tamil Engineers Foundation recently awarded scholarships to 14 students from Batticaloa University. These students have been selected based on their family financial situation and the recipients were recommended by “Rotary Club of Batticaloa”. A sum of LKR504,000 ($4150.00) was disbursed to Rotary Club of Batticaloa to award these scholarships (Rs3000 per month for 12 months period) to these 14 needy students. Please note that it has been decided to increase the monthly scholarship payment from Rs3000 to Rs4000 per student per month for all University Scholarship Schemes from 2020.In the selection process priority has been given to the children who lost their parents & the families who have financial difficulties for their children to continue their university education. Thanking letters from the individual students also attached. We are sure these letters will touch many hearts.The Scholarship Award Ceremony took place on Thursday 12th Dec, organized by Rotary Club of Batticaloa.TEF has provided Scholarships to students from 5 Universities for the last many years (Moratuwa, Batticaloa, Jaffna, Peradeniya & E’Fac Kilinochchi). 10 students in each Uni i.e. 50 students in total. In addition to this currently we are providing Scholarships to 10 students at St Johns Vocational Training College at Batticaloa from early 2019. Also, we are in the process of providing scholarships to 4 students at Kelaniya University and the details will be circulated in due course.The committee sincerely thanks all the student sponsors for their kind & generous commitment/contributions to help needy students.Please advise if you wish to sponsor the Uni students and become a SPONSOR in 2020. The commitment to become a sponsor is $30 per month i.e. $360 per year, which is Tax deductible. We are sure your contributions will help these students to accomplish their dream without the additional financial stress. Many of these students have lost their parents due to various reasons and getting supported by a single parent or relatives.The committee thanks Thananjeyan (E81) (TEF Vic Chapter) for coordinating this project with Batticaloa Rotary Club and Dr. K.E. TEF recently awarded scholarships to 10 selected students at Peradeniya University. These students were chosen based on their family financial situation and the names have been recommended by “Peradeniya Tamil Society”.Tamil Engineers Foundation has provided Rs480,000 ($3895.00) to Peradeniya Tamil Society recently to award the scholarships (Rs.4000 per month for 12 months term) to these 10 deserving students. Tamil Engineers Foundation provided scholarships to 5 high achievers in Kilinochchi area based on their GCE O/L exam results to continue their GCE A/L. These scholarships were provided for almost 2 years, this proposal was brought in by SJC87 committee in 2015 The Killinochchi region does not have enough qualified GCE A/L teachers in Science and Mathematics stream, and the scholarship helped the selected students to pay for tuition fees and travel costs to follow A/L private tuition classes in Jaffna during the weekends and school holidays.Read more...
